MONTPELIER — Albert J. “Jack” Sekelsky Jr., 81, of Montpelier, passed away at home on Nov. 9, 2019. Jack was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on July 2,1938, to Albert and Ann Sekelsky. He graduated Yale University in 1960 with a BS degree in Economics and continued to NYU and received an MBA. Jack was the first in a family of immigrants to attend college. Jack was employed by the Federal Reserve bank in New York where he met his wife, Susan Hadden. Jack and Sue moved to New Jersey where he entered the municipal bonds industry. There, he felt proud to be able to help small towns finance infrastructure projects. In 1999, Jack and Sue moved to Vermont. Jack enjoyed nature, including fly fishing and bird watching. He enjoyed jazz and played piano in clubs in New York City. Jack had an encyclopedic knowledge of history, and was able to link current and historical events. He was a true gentleman. Jack is survived by his daughter, Anne Sekelsky, of Calais. He has three grandchildren, Chris, Kate and Stephanie Ager. He was predeceased by his wife, Sue Sekelsky; and daughter Karen Sekelsky Ager. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Old Meeting House in East Montpelier. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Montpelier Feast Program.
