Julius A. 'Tony' Forstmann

Julius Anthony Forstmann, “Tony,” passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 84 from natural causes. He was a larger than life, charismatic, handsome, athletic man who lived life to the fullest. He was generous and kind to all who knew him. He was born in New York City, New York and attended Andover and Yale. He went on to achieve his MBA at Columbia Business School. He founded Forstmann-Leff Associates, and was an early partner at Forstmann-Little with his two younger brothers Theodore Forstmann and Nicholas Forstmann. He also founded the Huggy Bear Invitational Tennis Tournament that over 25 plus years, donated tens of millions to charities including The Hole in the Wall Gang, Inner City Schools and The Family Academy. He helped many get jobs on Wall Street and was always looking at new ventures through Forstmann & Co. He was an avid sportsman and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Cathie Shirriff Forstmann and his 6 children: Tony, Cara, Christina, Baron, Luke, and Kelly, 10 grandchildren, and siblings John Forstmann, Marina Day, and Elissa Moran.
