Paul White Loomis

At Yale, Paul was on the freshman basketball team. From his sophomore year until graduation, he was a member and soloist in the Yale Glee Club.

Paul was a gifted English teacher in the middle school at North Shore Country Day School, Winnetka, Illinois and at Shady Hill School, Cambridge, Mass. He left teaching to become an award-winning salesman in the Chicago area with 3M Corp., then changing careers to become a life insurance broker. He was a partner in Atkins, Loomis and Timpson Insurance Agency, San Antonio, Texas for 20 years.

Paul was a well known baritone in the Chicago area, then in San Francisco and San Antonio, both in civic and church choirs as well as leading roles in operettas. He with his wife Melinda were founders of the San Antonio Men and Boys Choir. He was a member of the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, San Antonio Master Chorale, and Texas Bach Choir, serving as president of all three. He retired to the Portland, Oregon area in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Atkins Loomis, son Nathaniel Malott Loomis and wife Sita Farmer Loomis, grandsons Manu and Ari Loomis; daughters Marilyn Loomis Haley and husband Cris Haley; Susan Loomis Maletta and grandsons Matthew Maletta and Marcus Maletta. His ashes are buried at Fern Prairie Cemetery, Fern Prairie, WA.
