W. Wilson Keithline II

W. Wilson Keithline passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born in New Haven, CT, he spent his early childhood in Worcester, MA before moving to Tariffville and then Simsbury. He attended Deerfield Academy and went on to Yale University, where he was a proud member of the Class of 1960, in the Navy ROTC program, sang in the St. Thomas More Choir, and returned often for reunions. Immediately after graduation, he married Dene (Hart) Keithline, and began his service as a U.S. Naval officer. He was stationed in Key West, FL and Norfolk, VA, where the couple welcomed their two children, Ellen and Wilson.

In 1964, the family moved to West Hartford, CT. He began his career with Connecticut Bank & Trust. Driven by a lifelong love of learning, he attended UConn Law School at night graduating in 1969. He practiced law for nearly fifty years, first in downtown Hartford and later in Simsbury Center.

He lived life with boundless curiosity. He was an avid reader, a devoted member of several book clubs and discussion groups, and famously read The Economist cover to cover each week. He was a member of the Hartford Y karate group, loved the challenge of piloting Cessnas, and enjoyed skiing well into his seventies. A member of Mensa, he delighted in organizing gatherings—whether Mensa meet-ups or the long-running Carver Circle block party, which he hosted on his lawn for many years. He was also a regular on the trail to Heublein Tower.

He was a presence—loud, jovial, and endlessly welcoming. He greeted everyone with his signature phrases: “Isn’t it another beautiful day in paradise?” or “Happiness.” Nothing made him happier than bringing people together, hosting celebrations, and filling a room with laughter. His greatest joy came from his family. A newly minted great-grandfather, he welcomed the honor with pure excitement.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Dolores Keithline, and his siblings, Ann Scriber and Richard Keithline. He leaves behind his children Ellen Keithline Byrne (Steve) and Wilson Keithline (Beth Mazadoorian); his grandchildren Emily (Matt), William (Carolyn), Jack (Jacqueline), Margaret, and Cate; and his great-granddaughter Evelyn; and special friend Judy.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Vincent Funeral Home 880 Hopmeadow St. Simsbury.
